The brief
An unusual freak accident at a public firework display fired by the leading pyrotechnics experts, Kimbolton Fireworks, put them at risk of potentially hostile media enquiries and public concern.
Our approach
We offered the services of Ronel Lehmann to the company as a senior, highly experienced expert in crisis communications to become the public face of Kimbolton. He spoke on behalf of the company and dealt effectively, professionally and transparently with all newspaper, TV and radio enquiries.
In support of this, we used a media relations campaign to promote the outstanding quality of the company’s safety record. The site of the accident was one of 65 public firework displays fired by Kimbolton in the two-week period surrounding 5 November, all of which went without a hitch.
The result
Kimbolton Fireworks were praised by the Health & Safety Executive for the extreme care and measures they had in place to assure public safety, far in excess of the minimum guidelines.
