From being mentioned in the press on just three occasions prior to our involvement, we assisted this high-profile law firm in achieving 818 placements (source: Financial Times) the following year.
Our work with Class Law involved acting for the firm in one of the most newsworthy insurance actions and creating publicity to establish group actions in cases against high profile companies and organisations including Sotherby’s and Cristies, which resulted in a major victory and record pay-out. Because English law allows only group litigation as distinct from American-style class actions, action groups need to be established to instruct solicitors. This entails intense media activity to make potential litigants aware of a basis for claim and in addition provide help and support for members often facing very difficult circumstances, and organising high-profile press conferences for the National Press and Broadcasting media. Our work has resulted in numerous profiles of the firm, partner Stephen Alexander’s participation on Any Questions on Radio 4 and his appearance to give evidence before the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee.
