The brief
This charity wanted to launch a capital appeal to raise £6.5million to fund the building of a 6-bedded children’s hospice in Eltham, Kent, to serve 7 South London boroughs.
Our approach
Our starting point was to provide the charity with an expert fundraising advisory service from a member of Lehmann Communications’ own team: Steve Howe, formerly Director of Fundraising at The Outward Bound Trust. We then planned, implemented and managed a ‘turning the stone’ event on the site of the new hospice, followed by a launch reception in the elegant surroundings of the nearby Eltham Palace. Our guest list included journalists, celebrities, the Mayors of local boroughs, Members of Parliament, corporate donors and the families of affected children. An on-going press advertising campaign in the London press is meanwhile keeping the charity’s name in the eye of potential corporate donors in the City.
